Indian media massively cover Ayatollah Khamenei's address on Egypt

New Delhi, Feb 5, IRNA – India’s print and electronic media massively covered Saturday the address of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the Egyptians uprising which he said was fully supoorted by Iran.
“In his first public comments on the popular uprising in the region, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Iran’s 1979 revolution, which deposed the US-backed (Mohammad-Reza) Shah (pahlavi) and established the Islamic Republic, could serve as a pattern for the Arab uprisings,” India’s leading English daily “The Times of India” wrote.
Another leading English newspaper, “The Asian Age” referred to Ayatollah Khamenei as saying, “The awakening of the Islamic Egyptian people is an Islamic liberation movement and I, in the name of the Iranian government, salute the Egyptian people and the Tunisian people.”
“A wave of uprisings in Arab countries is a sign of an “Islamic awakening” which was envisaged when the 1979 Iranian revolution took place, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Friday.”
“Today’s events in North Africa, Egypt and Tunisia and some other countries have different meanings for us.
“This is what was always talked about as the occurrence of Islamic awakening at the time of the Islamic revolution of the great Iranian nation and is showing itself today,” the english daily “Statesman” quoted Ayatollah Khamenei as saying.
Meanwhile, leading news agency “Press Trust of India” (PTI) quoting the Iranian supreme leader wrote: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Friday called for an Islamic regime to be installed in Egypt, saying the wave of Arab revolts is an 'earthquake' triggered by the 1979 Iranian revolution. The all-powerful Khamenei said the Arab uprisings, if successful, would lead to failure of US policies in the region and that the revolts were the most worrying for the Islamic republic's arch-foe Israel as its alliance with Egypt could be broken.”
Another news agency Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) quoting Ayatollah Khamenei said: “(Ayatollah) Khamenei accused the Egyptian government under Mubarak that has diplomatic relations with Israel of being a 'lackey of the Zionist regime'.
The ayatollah referred to the Egyptians' fight for 'dignity and honour' saying Mubarak's biggest transgression was to make Egypt an American tool.
