Italian senator: Peaceful nuclear energy inalienable right of Iran

Rome, Feb 16, IRNA – Head of the Italian Senate Foreign Policy Commission Lumberto Dinni said that the use of peaceful nuclear energy is Iran's inalienable right.

Dinni made the statement in a meeting with the Head of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi here on Tuesday, calling Iran a peaceful country.

He noted that Iran has never attacked any country in the last century.

Dinni called Iran an important and effective country in the region and in the world, underlining Iran's right to use peaceful nuclear energy.

Boroujerdi is in Rome heading a parliamentary delegation and upon invitations of heads of foreign policy commissions of Italian Senate and Representative House.

Iran's parliamentary delegation is scheduled to meet with a number of Italian political and parliamentary officials during its 2-day visit to Rome.

Strengthening political and parliamentary ties, consultation on political developments in the Middle East, cooperation in Afghanistan and fight against drug smuggling are among issues to be discussed in the meetings./end
