Int’l Islamic Unity Confab kicks off in Tehran

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA - The 24th International Islamic Unity Conference opened in Tehran on Saturday.

Several scholars from Iran and 58 Islamic countries are attending the three-day conference.

Over 200 scholars from Oman, France, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, China, Greece, Afghanistan, Sudan, Egypt, Kuwait, US, Lebanon, India, Algeria, Sweden, Azerbaijan, UK, Jordan, Indonesia, Turkey, Iraq, Gambia, Qatar, UAE and 32 other countries have been invited to the gathering.

Meanwhile, over 500 Shia and Sunni scholars from Iranian border provinces have also been invited to the conference.

Promotion of unity among Muslims, proximity of Islamic schools of thought and the latest developments in the Islamic world are some of the topics to be discussed during the three-day event./end
