‘Bahraini govt. must respond to citizens’ demands’

TEHRAN, Feb.20(MNA) -- The director of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Persian Gulf and Middle East Department said the Bahraini government must properly respond to the demands of its citizens.

It is expected that the demands of the Bahraini people, both Shias and Sunnis, should be properly addressed during the current political process, Amir Abdollahian told on Saturday.

And the rights of Bahraini citizens should be respected, he stated.

He also expressed concern about the recent incidents in Bahrain in which many people have been killed and injured and condemned the Bahraini security forces for shooting protestors in Pearl Square in Manama.

If the Bahraini government continues to use violence, it will only complicate the situation, Abdollahian added.
