Karzai invited to attend Norouz festivities in Tehran

Kabul, Feb 20, IRNA – Iran's Vice-President submitted invitation letter of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to President Hamid Karzai to attend Norouz festivities in Tehran.
Vice-President in legal affairs Fatemah Bodaghi, in a meeting with President Karzai here on Saturday afternoon, while submitting the invitation letter, conveyed President Ahmadinejad's greetings to his Afghan counterpart and discussed the latest developments in the region as well as women's role in Afghanistan developments.
In the meeting, President Karzai welcomed the invitation and, by referring to the common culture, history, literature and language, said that Islamic Republic of Iran has given many valuable services to Iranians.
He added that 30 years ago, Iran imported many commodities, but now it exports many services and industrial items to abroad.
President Karzai also asked questions concerning implementation of Subsidies Regulating Plan in Iran as well as other regional developments which was answered by Bodaghi.
The VP, for her part, expressed hope that security situation in Afghanistan improve, so the Afghan nation can live in tranquility and prosperity.
Referring to the cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan in different fields, Bodaghi stressed that Afghan women play an important role in developments of the country.
Norouz festivities are to be held in Tehran on 7-8 Farvardin of 1390 (27-28 March 2011) in the presence of representatives of the Persian language countries./end
