VP lauds role of Afghan women in social affairs

Kabul, Feb 19, IRNA – Visiting Iran's VP in legal affairs in a meeting with women members of Afghanistan parliament here on Saturday evening said that Afghan competent women and their constructive presence in social affairs of the country is laudable.

Fatemah Bodaghi said that the ways that Islamic Republic of Iran passed in the field of women issues are similar to experiences which Afghan women are going through now.

She added that current world political and social models cannot answer human needs and in Europe and the US, there would be a need for a new government model to fulfill people's principal needs.

Referring to existing capacities in women to administer a society, she said that neglecting women capacities in every society would be a big mistake.

Bodaghi added that western women are still facing many problems.
Islamic societies now should prove that women can be successful in social arena as well as being a successful spouse, mother and a manager in the society.

She referred to constructive role of women members of parliament and said that they have two duties of lawmaking and supervision on government performance.

Bodaghi expressed Iran's readiness for cooperation in all fields, especially in the field of women and holding common sessions and exchanging experiences.

Afghanistan Health Minister Sorayya Dalil, who attended the meeting, too said that she believed women are inseparable part of Afghanistan developing society.

She said that women roles in Afghanistan constitution has been fixed and now 27 percent of parliament seats belong to women.

A number of attending women also expressed their viewpoints and called for expansion of joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of women./end
