Washington may consider military action to save client states: Iran`s general

TEHRAN, Feb.23(MNA)--Chairman of Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Hassan Firouzabadi said on Tuesday that the United States may be seeking to take a military action in the region to save the dependent governments which are facing uprisings by their people.

Pointing to a tour of the Persian Gulf by chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen, Firouzabadi said, “Possibly, in the current turmoil (in the region) the great Satan has sent Mike Mullen to consider a military action in favor of the regional ‘American’ oppressors (referring to the U.S. allies) and against the revolutionaries.”

He said the hasty trip of Mullen to the Middle East shows that the U.S. is deeply concerned about the fate of its troops deployed in the regional countries.

The member of the Supreme National Security Council also said, “U.S. troops must leave the region and know that no military action can affect the Muslim people’s revolution aimed at saving people from the U.S. oppression and despotic tyrannies and will only impose huge costs on America and accelerate their exit.”

Mullen began Sunday a Persian Gulf tour in Saudi Arabia and then travelled to Qatar. Mullen is to also travel to the United Arab Emirates, Djibouti, possibly Bahrain, and then to Kuwait.
