TMCA to screen movies on visual arts
TEHRAN,Feb.23(MNA) -- The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) will be showing several movies with the central theme of art during the 3rd Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts.
A selection of Iranian and foreign films on visual arts and artists will be shown next week from February 26 to March 3.
“Role of Love” (1990) by Shahriar Parsipur will be screened on Saturday at the cinemateque of the museum. It is the story of two art students visiting a museum who find an anonymous teahouse painting on the wall. They develop an interest to find signs of the painter.
“Autumn Lane” by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Khosrow Sinaii will be presented the second day. The movie centers on sculptor Jazeh Tabatabaii (1931-2008). Tabatabaii is well known as the founder and director of Iran’s first gallery, which is known as Iran’s Modern Art Gallery.
On Monday February 28, “Iranian Painting 1, 2, 3” by Manuchehr Tayyab will go on screen.
The first and second episodes of “Brief Review of History of Calligraphy in Iran” by Hamid Soheili will be showcased on Tuesday, and the third and fourth episodes will be shown the following day.
“Vincent et moi” (1990) (Vincent and Me) by Michael Rubbo will be the final show on Thursday.
A brief synopsis of the film: While sketching one day, 13-year-old, Jo encounters a mysterious art dealer who buys a few of her drawings and commissions her to do more. Some time thereafter, she reads a news story about a million-dollar sale of drawings of a young Vincent Van Gogh. She enlists the aid of some friends and heads to Amsterdam in search of the mystery man.
Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the Iranian Artists Forum, Saba Art and Cultural Institute, Tehran’s Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art, along with the art centers in 20 other provinces, are hosting the festival.
Six foreign countries of Austria, Italy, Syria, France, the Netherlands and Ghana are also joining Iran in displaying Iranian visual artworks during the festival.
