Gunmen attack NATO oil tankers, killed 4 people

Islamabad, Feb 26, IRNA -- Unidentified gunmen on Friday attacked NATO supply tankers near Pakistan north western city of Peshawar and killed four people, police said.

Police sources said that a group of 15 gunmen opened fire on the NATO fuel tankers at Ring Road area in Peshawar the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and destroyed 16 vehicles.

Two people were killed of gunshots and two other are of burn inquiries. Investigations have been launched into the attack, the police claimed.

The rescue officials claim that they have recovered Rs. 150,000 from one dead body and Rs 8,000 from another. Four hand-grenades have also been found from nearby fields which are in police custody now.

Militants often attack trucks carrying supplies for US and NATO troops in Afghanistan . The supplies arrive in Pakistan ’s port city of Karachi and travel to Afghanistan./end
