Hong Kong festival to screen Iranian family drama “Nader and Simin”

TEHRAN, Feb.26(MNA)-- Iranian Golden Bear-winner “Nader and Simin: A Separation” was invited for screening at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The Iranian family drama, which was among the best-selling titles of the Berlinale 2011, has attracted the attention of the organizers of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market.

The Hong Kong International Film Festival will be held from March 20 to April 5.

The film starring Leila Hatami and Shahab Hosseini, “Nader and Simin: A Separation” tells the story of a couple who are getting a divorce, but the tutorship of their child is causing a dilemma.

The festival will hold an exposition of distinguished Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami alongside with other prominent directors Jia Zhangke from China, and Kuei Chih-Hung from Hong Kong.

“Nader and Simin: A Separation” won the Golden Bear for the best film at the recent edition of Berlin film festival as its cast ensemble received the best actor and actress Silver Bears at the event.

The Hollywood Reporter has predicted that Berlin’s big winner “Nader and Simin” is expected to turn up in next year’s foreign language Oscar category.
