Asiana Airlines to launch Incheon-Istanbul route
SEOUL (Yonhap) - Asiana Airlines Inc., South Korea's second-largest carrier, said Sunday that it will launch a new route next month linking Incheon to Istanbul.
The new service will be available three times a week starting from March 29, it said.
Korean Air Co., South Korea's largest carrier, currently operates services on the route four times a week. Turkish Airlines operates regular flights from Incheon to Istanbul six times a week.
The expanded air services will help boost bilateral trade and meet growing demand for flight service on the route, Asiana Airlines said.
In 2010, a total of 16,320 Turkish people visited South Korea, up 31.5 percent from a year earlier.
Incheon International Airport, about 50 kilometers west of Seoul, is the main gateway to South Korea.
