Students of Tehran universities hold demo against Qaddafi
TEHRAN, Feb.28(MNA) -- A number of university students from across Tehran staged a demonstration outside the United Nations office in the Iranian capital to express their disapproval of the slaughter of Libyan protesters by the regime of Muammar Gaddafi.
They shouted slogans “Down with Gaddafi,” “Down with the United States,” “Down with Israel,” and “Down with Britain.”
In a symbolic move, the demonstrators also carried the U.S. coffin.
Qaddafi has vowed to fight to the “last drop” of his blood against the protesters which demand an end to his 41-year rule.
Leaders from several countries around the world have called on the Libyan dictator to step down.
In the latest move, the UN Security Council unanimously ordered a travel and assets ban on Qaddafi’s regime and a crimes against humanity investigation into the bloodshed blamed on the Libyan strongman, AFP reported.
A vote by the 15-nation body at a Saturday night meeting also called for an immediate arms embargo against Libya, where the UN says more than 1,000 people have been killed in attacks blamed on Qaddafi loyalists.
