Iranian documentarian to showcase historical postcards

TEHRAN, Feb.28(MNA) -- Iranian Documentarian, Mehrdad Oskuii, will be displaying a collection of Persian historical postcards, that have been collected from different countries, at Axkhaneh Shahr, Iran’s photo museum in Tehran, which opens on Tuesday.

Oskuii has collected the postcards on Iran during several trips to different countries in collaboration with several researchers who have helped him bring back the historical postcards to Iran.

“We have conducted the research on the postcards along with a team of researchers and we intend to display the works and publish several books about the postcards,” he told on Sunday.

“The postcards contain information on the different dynasties since the Qajar era that are still present,” he said, adding, “Some of the postcards provide good information on the people who have lived in the different eras, so we have decided to publish the postcards. The first volume under the title “The World of Islam Narrated by Historical Postcards” is expected to be published soon by Sureh-Mehr Publications.”

Oskuii also added that a team of twelve has collaborated with him in collecting and selecting the postcards.

Thirty postcards along with their descriptions will be shown, followed by a session attended by scholars and experts. Iranian scholars Naser Fakuhi, Shahram Aminian and Iran`s museum director Mojgan Tariqi are expected to attend the session on Thursday.

The second show featuring the men of Qajar is scheduled to open at the Sahebqaranieh Palace in early April, followed by an exhibition of postcards showcasing daily life of people in Tehran in older times opens in May.

“The Qajar women’s postcard show is expected to open in autumn and the postcards on the revolution of Iran will open in the winter, Oskuii said.

Documentaries “How Green Was Our Valley”, “A Taste of Iran”, and “It Is Always Late for Freedom” are among Oskuii’s credits.
