Libya is a part of the worldwide struggle against oppression

TEHRAN, March 2 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on February 15 that over the past three decades, Egypt was under the domination of the United States and the Zionist regime.

A glance at Egypt’s relations with other countries shows that Ayatollah Khamenei’s words ring true.

Besides Egypt, many other countries in the Middle East and North Africa, such as Libya, Tunisia, and Bahrain, have also been humiliated and oppressed by the West and Israel.

History confirms that the Islamic Revolution of Iran played an important role in awakening the people of the region.

It is obvious that the people of many countries in the Middle East and North Africa are trying to have a revolution along the same lines as the revolution which became victorious in Iran, under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini, on February 11, 1979.

In a strange twist of fate, exactly 32 years later, on February 11, 2011, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was forced to step down as a result of a popular uprising in which many people died and many others made great sacrifices.

The people of several countries in the Middle East and North Africa are trying to bring down dictatorial regimes and risking their lives to establish democracies in which all citizens can play an important role in order to create a brighter future for themselves and their children.

All the people of the region know that the despotic rulers of a number of countries in the Middle East and North Africa have stolen billions of dollars and deposited the money in Western banks.

But finally, in 2011, the people of Tunisia and Egypt ousted the dictators who had ruled their countries for years.

And the people of Yemen, Bahrain, and some other countries in the Arab world appear to be ready to make every sacrifice to replace the political systems that have ruled them for decades.

But right now, the center of attention is Libya, where the dictatorial regime is on the verge of collapsing.

According to the latest reports, dictator Muammar Gaddafi has supplied weapons to mercenaries and his last remaining Libyan supporters so they can fight against the people struggling for democracy.

The outlook is not good for Gaddafi, since millions of Libyans are clearly ready to make the ultimate sacrifice to bring democracy to their country.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council is currently holding meetings to discuss the crisis in Libya and the situation in the rest of the Arab world, and it is expected that the UN will play a key role in the efforts to establish peace and stability in the region.

The majority of the people living in the Middle East and North Africa believe in Islam, a religion that instructs Muslims to help deprived and oppressed people wherever they are.

And most people across the globe support the democracy movements that have recently arisen.

Thus, the time has come to eradicate oppression in every corner of the globe.

Everyone on Earth should join the struggle against oppression so that we can make a better world and create a truly advanced civilization that allows all human beings to live in dignity.
