Demand to control target killings

KARACHI, March 15, 2011 (PPI): Jamaat-e-Islam (JI) and All Pakistan Organization of Small Traders and Cottage Industries have strongly condemned the recent target killings in Karachi in which 46 people lost their lives and demanded of the government to control law and order.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday spokesman to JI said that the government has left the people of Karachi on mercy of terrorists. He regretted 46 people were killed in last four days, raising doubts about the performance of law enforcement agencies.

He said that the government is responsible for the current situation in the city. He said that the traders, clerics, students, political activists and citizens are not secure, even in the presence of police and rangers. Spokesman urged upon the government to arrest the terrorists irrespective of political compromising.

Central president of Small Traders Organization Mehboob Azam, president Karachi Division Mehmood Hamid and Vice president Usman Sharif in a joint statement said that the government should call an ‘All Parties Conference’ on the current situation of city and traders should also be taken on board.

They further demanded to cut the petroleum prices and electricity tariff in order to curb inflation.
