Iran President: ECO can expand regional ties
Tehran, March 27, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that ECO is able to expand regional countries ties through appropriate programming.
According to the report of Presidential Office website on Saturday evening, President Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Secretary General Muhammad Yahya Maroofi referred to Kabul meeting concerning construction of railway between Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and said that construction of the railway can raise economic situation in the three countries.
Maroofi, for his part, by referring to Iran's role in the region said that Iran has an important role in the region and by hosting the Int'l Nowruz Celebrations here will promote connections between regional countries, because Nowruz is an appropriate opportunity for regional countries to discuss mutual relations and cooperation in a friendly atmosphere./end
