President: Iran-Pakistan relations should expand in different fields

Tehran, March 27, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran-Pakistan relations are not based on momentary policies adding that the two countries should try to expand their cooperation in different fields.

According to the report of Presidential Office website on Saturday evening, President Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza, who is in Tehran to attend International Nowruz Ceremony, said that Iran and Pakistan are victims of terrorism.

'Although Pakistani government is working hard to fight with terrorism, the main root of terrorism is in the hands of powers who want to dominant the world,' the president tolld his Pak visitor.

He pointed out that there are people who do not want countries like Iran, Pakistan or Afghanistan to be independent and by using measures like terrorism are trying to achieve their sinister goals.

The president added that Nowruz feast is an appropriate opportunity for countries to exchange views on ways of expanding cooperation.

The Pakistan National Assembly Speaker expressed pleasure with her trip to Iran and attending the ceremony and said that Pakistan gives a special importance to expanding ties with Iran.

She appreciated Iran for hosting the ceremony and said that this would be a suitable opportunity for Muslim countries to get together and discuss issues of mutual interest.

Fehmida Mirza condemned terrorism and said that Pakistan is a victim of terrorism and it should fight against the ominous phenomenon with cooperation of regional countries./end
