Iran attaches importance to ties with Africa- VP

Tehran, March 29, IRNA – First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said here Monday evening that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to its relations with African states.

Rahimi made the remarks in his meeting with visiting Vice-President of Zanzibar Seif Ali Iddi, adding that promotion of ties with African countries enjoys a priority in the Islamic Republic's foreign policy.

Underlining the need for consolidation of unity among the African nations, he reiterated that such solidarity would help African states regain their rights and foil conspiracies of the big powers.

Zanzibar's vice-president is in Iran to attend the 2nd world Nowrouz celebrations kicked off in Tehran on March 27 with participation of presidents of Iraq, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Armenia and Turkmenistan.

Nowrouz (literally meaning New Day), is the celebration of the onset of spring and the solar Iranian year./end
