Islamabad, March 30, IRNA -- Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, on Tuesday expressed concern over the safety and security of Pakistani expatriated community in Bahrain.
Reports say that at least three Pakistanis were killed and several injured in recent incidents of violence in Bahrain.
Prime Minister Gilani, while talking to the visiting Foreign Minister of Bahrain, urged the government of Bahrain to pay special attention to the security of Pakistani nationals in their country, a PM office statement said.
Shaikh Khaled Bin Ahmed Mohamed Al-Khalifa, arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a two-day unannounced visit for talks on the situation in Bahrain.
The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan was deeply concerned over the situation developing in North Africa, Middle East and other parts of the Islamic Arab world, which could be extremely detrimental to the overall interests of stability, order and peace of the Islamic world, the statement said.
“Pakistan’s position on these matters, he added, was based on the universally recognized principles of respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states, as well as non-intervention and non-interference”.
The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan was fully cognizant of the present difficulties that Bahrain faces but was confident that the Government and people of Bahrain will be able to overcome all difficulties in a grand spirit of national community and reconciliation.
