Politician sees foreign hand behind terrorism in Iran and Pakistan

Islamabad, March 30, IRNA -- A Pakistani political leader on Tuesday agreed with the statement of Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that foreign hand is behind terrorist acts in Iran and Pakistan.

President Ahmadinejad, lashing out at certain countries which spread terrorism to “dominate the world,” said that Iran and Pakistan are both victims of terrorism.

Former minister and President Pakistan Muslim League–Z, Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq, speaking to IRNA, said that some countries have vested interests in the instability of Iran and Pakistan.

Iranian President during a meeting with Pakistani Speaker of the National Assembly, Fahmida Mirza, remarked, “Those who are not interested in the independence of countries such as Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, are spreading terrorism”.

Ijaz-ul-Haq, expressing his views, said that some countries are providing weapons and financial support to terrorists with an objective to destabilize both Iran and Pakistan.

The politician advised Iran and Pakistan to further enhance cooperation in every field to tackle conspiracies against them.

He stressed the need to promote people to people interaction between Iran and Pakistan. “Iran and Pakistan should work closely in fighting terrorism”, he suggested.

“We must not allow any one to play a negative role in our region”, Ijaz-ul-Haq went on to say.

He wondered as to why the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) has failed to play its role in protecting the rights of Islamic countries.

Former minister was of the view that most of the problems faced by Pakistan are because of being a frontline state in the war on terrorism. ‘This is not our war’, he clarified.

He added Pakistan has rendered the biggest number of sacrifices and suffered the heaviest losses than any other nation in the so called war against terrorism.

Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, talking to the Pakistani Speaker of the National Assembly, said that the Tehran-Islamabad relations are not based on “temporary and changeable” policies and stressed the importance of bolstering cooperation in various fields.

He pointed out that Iran and Pakistan enjoy a “common culture, beliefs, traditions and ideals.

“Yes I agree with the Iranian President”, said Ijaz-ul-Haq./end
