Everyone should pursue economic jihad: President
Tehran, April 4, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that the efforts should be aimed at bringing about economic jihad in the country and in the lives of individuals.
President Ahmadinejad made the remark in a joint meeting between his cabinet and the executive officials.
Referring to the importance of naming the New Iranian Year as the year of economic jihad by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the president called on all cabinet ministers and officials to do their best to materialize the economic jihad in the lives of people.
'Despite many obstacles created by the enemies in all areas, we witnessed considerable progress in different fields,' he added.
President Ahmadinejad noted that although last year the people of Iran were under pressure of the harshest and most difficult sanctions, the government provided the people with the best and most extensive services.
He referred to the government's subsidy plan which kicked off for the first time last year as one of the most important achievements of the Iranian governments of the past 50 years.
'All sections of the government should join hands to make considerable achievements like what we did last year. We should even expedite our efforts this year,' President Ahmadinejad added.
He noted that no one should be poor or deprived in the Islamic Republic of Iran./end
