West has discriminatory nuclear attitude: Deputy FM

Mashhad, April 11, IRNA -- Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said here on Sunday that the West has a discriminatory attitude towards nuclear energy at and international level.
Qashqavi made the remark at a ceremony marking the day of peaceful nuclear energy in Payam-e Nour University in Mashhad.
'According to their own standards, the western countries claim that Muslim nations should be at a lower level than Israel. They also say that Muslim countries do not have the right to gain access to the peaceful nuclear energy,' he added.
Referring to the fact that the western countries argue that Iran should prove that it does not possess nuclear weapons, the official said that the common sense says that when something does not exist its nonexistence needs not to be proven.
'Washington is even against Iran's peaceful nuclear activities,' Qashqavi said.
He pointed out that when the western countries speak about nuclear disarmament of the Middle East they exclude the Zionist regime./end
