Azerbaijan`s first lady condemns Koran burning
Baku, April 11 (AzerTAc). Today, number of confrontations and conflicts in the world don`t reduce, but unfortunately, grow, said President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva at the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.
“We live in such time, when there are some forces, who want to pull at the most sacred and the purest heartstrings of the people. Each of us belongs to different religions and system of values of these religions is very close. Confessing to the different religions, we pray for the only Most High, and an essence of our prayers is also the same. But, today, we face an inconceivable fact far from the humanity. A person, who names himself the religious figure, burns the sacred book Koran. How do we name this deed? What is his aim? Whose political order is this? Whom do these people serve? But, we didn`t see that the world community condemns this monstrous fact. An unpunished cruelty brought to the appalling brutality, and we became a witness of it”, said Mehriban Aliyeva.
Mehriban Aliyeva considers that one of the largest threats of our time is a politicization of the religion. “It is inadmissible that different extremist forces and slogans will appear under the religious slogans. It is absolutely obvious that such actions and events contradict the dialogue and normal relations and create a basis for the new confrontations”, added first lady of Azerbaijan.
