Tatarstan president: Tatarstan appreciates cooperation with Iran
Moscow, April 16, IRNA – President of Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in a meeting with Iran's new Consul General in Kazan Rasoul Shayan said that his country appreciates cooperation with Iran.
In the meeting in Presidential Palace in Kazan, the president expressed hope that activities of the new consul general causes development of ties between Iran, Tatarstan Republic and Russia Federation.
Referring to history of ties between the two countries, Minnikhanov called for expansion of cooperation in all fields of economy and trade.
He also called for acceleration of implementation of signed agreements between Tatarstan and provinces of East, West Azerbaijan, Ardebil, Markazi and Qazvin.
The president also said that an exhibition will be held in Kazan this summer in the framework of Islamic countries conference and invited Iran to participate in the fair, too.
Shayan, for his part, called for development of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture and sport.
The new consul general of Iran in Kazan also said that invitation letters have been sent to President Minnikhanov, Parliament Speaker Farid Muhammadsheen, Advisor to President Mentimer Shaimeiov to pay visits to Iran.
Republic of Tatarstan has an area of 67.8 thousand square kilometers with 3.8 million population./end
