No one should hijack objectives of Africa, ME movements

Islamabad, April 16, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Masha’Allah Shakeri has warned against any attempt to hijack objectives of the movements in North Africa and the Middle East.
“The uprising movements in North Africa and Middle East should not be hijacked because of the vested interests of western countries,” Shakeri told a round table discussion on “Awakening of Muslim Ummah” held in Islamabad on Thursday.
The discussion, organized by IRNA, was also addressed by Deputy Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Fareed Paracha as well as , Allama Amin Shaheedi, Secretary General Majlis-e Wahdat-e Muslimeen (MWM) Allama Amin Shaheedi and analyst air commodore (retd) Khalid Iqbal.
Senior journalist Baqir Sajjad Syed was also another speaker of the meeting.
“We still have time to determine the course of movements in Muslim countries… Islamic slogans are part of these movements as they are started form Muslim countries,” the Iranian ambassador said.
“We should be little more patient,” he suggested.
Shakeri criticized the concept of Islamphobia and Iranphobia, noting that Iranophobia is a misguiding concept.
He added that hegemonic powers were trying to create rift in sects of Islam by saying that religion could be used as an instrument to create differences.
The ambassador also criticized the role of western media in highlighting problems of Muslim world.
He said there was lack of leadership in the Arab countries.
“Uprisings in Libya , Egypt and Tunisia are similar as movement in Bahrain …our attitude towards all movements must be equal,” the Iranian envoy stressed.
Shakeri said no country had the right to send troops to suppress demands of the people of other countries.
“The question is of double standards…Why the world is silent over these double standards?' he asked.
Meanwhile, Fareed Paracha advised Muslim Ummah in his address to remain vigilant against western conspiracies.
He regretted that the US was so much involved with the affairs of Arab countries.
Paracha said that Iran ’s Islamic Revolution has been source of inspiration for the oppressed Muslim nations.
The religious leader added Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has failed to protect the rights of Muslim countries.
Allama Amin Shaheedi was another speaker of the meeting who expressed his views by strongly condemning the landing of foreign troops in Bahrain calling it a brutal act.
He also accused the West, specially the US, of pursuing double standards policy against Muslim nations.
Air Commodore (retd) Khalid Iqbal, a senior defense analyst, said that western countries were trying to divide Muslim Ummah.
He stressed for the unity among Muslim nations to counter anti-Islam conspiracies.
Senior journalist Baqir Sajjad Syed commenting over Bahrain crisis said that no country has a right to intervene with the affairs of Persian Gulf state.
“The situation of Bahrain should not be exploited by any other country”, he advised.
He opined that prolonged dictatorial rules in Muslim states have triggered the uprising in North Africa and Middle East .
“People of these countries are tired of brutal dictators imposed by US”, he said./end
