Official slates big countries over human rights breach in region

Tehran, April 20, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister in American Affairs described calamities happening in Bahrain 'painful' and criticized silence of countries which assert to defend human rights, especially the US.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on Tuesday, Behrouz Kamalvandi, in a meeting with a group of Brazilian journalists here, underlined that human rights is being violated severely.

He continued that the way western countries deal with developments in the Arab countries of the Middle East shows their dual standard in facing similar development.

By underlining importance and role of Iran and Brazil in the Middle East and South America, Kamalvandi stressed that proper knowledge about each other could help establish strategic relations.

He referred to necessity of giving real information of Iran to Brazilian nation and said that because of long geographical distance, the public opinion of both countries have little information about each other.

The senior diplomat pointed out that western media make efforts to distort news and so a lot of information spread about these two countries is not real.

Reminding existing important political, economic and cultural potentials in Iran and Brazil, Kamalvandi said that if the potentials get together, they will create a double effect on international arena, especially in creation of structural changes in the world to establish justice.

He mentioned that big powers intend to create obstacles in way of Iran-Brazil friendship adding that officials of both countries should be aware of this hegemonic approach./end
