Latest situation of kidnapped Iranian engineers discussed

Kabul, April 20, IRNA – The latest situation of kidnapped Iranian engineers in Afghanistan was discussed in the presence of Afghanistan Interior Minister and Iran's Ambassador to Kabul Fada-Hossein Maleki.

After the meeting, the ambassador told IRNA that according to the received information, all kidnapped engineers are in good health and are able to contact with their families by telephone.

He added that negotiation with kidnappers continues and there is hope that the hostages will be released soon.

12 Iranian engineers, while doing their work on road construction in Farah province, west of Afghanistan, were kidnapped on Monday by an unknown armed group.

The ambassador said that request of kidnappers is under consideration and efforts to release the engineers will continue seriously.
Maleki described his meeting with Afghanistan Interior Minister Besmellah Mohammadi 'very positive'.

He added that request of the kidnappers is being considered through peaceful manners and negotiation with the kidnappers is underway through the elderly of the region./end
