Iran Embassy marks Army Day in Berlin

Berlin, April 20, IRNA -- Iran's Embassy in Berlin commemorated the the National Army Day in a special ceremony Tuesday evening.

Senior German political representatives, foreign diplomats and military officials as well as military attaches from several countries, among them Russia, Croatia, Turkey, Brazil and Venezuela, attended the Army Day festivities at Iran's diplomatic mission.

Welcoming the guests, Iran's Military Attache Hamid-Reza Salami highlighted the history of his country's post-revolutionary army.

He also stressed the role of the Iranian army during the eight-year war with Iraq.

Salami made clear the army was 'ready to respond to any aggression.'
The officer reiterated his country's self-sufficiency in producing high-tech weapons.

Salami emphasized Iran's army was seeking 'only peace and stability in the region.' He added, 'The message of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army for the entire world is peace, security and friendship.'

Meanwhile, the ceremony featured also a photo and video exhibition, showcasing Iran's modern military equipment, among them tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, machine guns, drones and fighter jets./end
