Judiciary Official: Regional Nations Seeking to Promote Religious Values

TEHRAN, April 23 (FNA)- A senior Iranian judiciary official underlined the Islamic nature of the current popular uprisings in the region, adding that regional nations are seeking to promote religious values.
"All these popular uprisings in Muslim countries such as Libya, Bahrain and Yemen have one thing in common which is paying heed to religion and religious values," First Deputy Head of the Judiciary Ebrahim Raeesi told reporters on the sidelines of the First Biannual Iranian National Seminar of Social Disorders in Birjand in Iran's Eastern province of South Khorassan.

The official added that the people of these Muslim countries have become fed up with dictatorship and being under the control of foreigners which is quite evident in their presence, slogans and being martyred for the sake of their ideology.

"What has made the US, Israel and the global arrogance angry is the feeling of Muslim countries so that even by halting these uprisings, the hatred of their nations from the global arrogance and imperialism cannot be changed," he added.

In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.

In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.

Other revolutions are erupting in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests have swept Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and Algeria.
