FM Urges Muslims' Vigilance against Enemies' Divisive Plots in Region
TEHRAN, April 25 (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Sunday underlined the sensitivity of the current developments and conditions in the region, warning that enemies have hatched plots to spark sectarian and ethnic differences in the region.
Speaking in a meeting with the visiting Head of the Indonesian Ulema Council, Umar Shihab, here in Tehran today, Salehi urged the Muslim nations to keep vigilant against the plots hatched by the enemies to spark discord between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims and also between the Arab and non-Arab nations.
Umar Shihab, for his part, underlined the necessity for stronger unity among Muslims.
As regards Iran-Indonesia ties, Shihab described the ties between the two Muslim states as "friendly and brotherly", and added that exchange of religious delegations between the two sides will help further deepen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
Shihab is in Iran at the invitation of the Head of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
Iranian and Indonesian officials have on many occasions stressed their resolve to expand bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in different fields.
