Iran-Khodro Plans to Improve Car Fuel Mileage in 2011

TEHRAN, April 25 (FNA)- The Middle-East's largest carmaker, Iran-Khodro Company (IKCO), announced that it plans to improve the fuel mileage of its products to 7.4 liters per 100km in 2011.
IKCO's Director for standardization Kayvan Vaziri said that the fuel mileage of IKCO cars had been improved for about one liter in 2010 in comparison to the previous year. In 2009, IKCO cars average fuel mileage was about 8.86l/100km that was decreased to 7.9l in 2010.
He said that the fuel economy of IKCO products is very close to the global energy efficiency and conservation, specially for fossil fuels. Based on a report by the World Green Transportation Council, the average fuel economy is 9.l/100km in the US and 7.l/100km in the world.
The same report indicates that GM cars consume an average of 11.3 litters within the United States and 8.5 liters in the other parts of the world. These figures are 9.6 and 6.34 for Toyota cars.
Kayvan Vaziri said, "Fuel efficient engines like TU5 are being used on Peugeot 405 and Samand; IKCO has increased the production of fuel efficient cars like Peugeot 206 and 207 while these along with engineering processes and calibration have improved XU engines fuel economy by 0.5 liters."
The director finally referred to IKCO's scheduled plan for 2014, and said that the company aims to optimize its products fuel economy to 6.5l/100km that is comparable to the world's leading countries.
