‘US attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan’

Baku, April 25 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met today US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Tina Kaidanow.
During the meeting, Kaidanow said the United States attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. She noted her country was interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan even more. Kaidanow said the US, as one of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, wants quick settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and is ready to contribute to this process.
She also underlined her country supports reaching positive progress in settlement of the conflict.
Mammadyarov, in turn, said as part of the negotiations process to resolve the conflict, Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers met in Moscow on April 22 through the mediation of Russia.
He added preservation of the current status quo was inadmissible.
The Minister underlined the necessity of restoration of communications for establishment of durable peace and stability.
“But withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is the main condition for this.
The sides also exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues.
