Series of events on 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence held in Poland

Baku, April 26 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Poland have organized a series of events “Azerbaijan in 20 years” to mark the 20th anniversary of the country`s independence.
Addressing the events, ambassador Hasan Hasanov spoke of Azerbaijan`s history, culture, national leader Heydar Aliyev`s services before his people and Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The ambassador also highlighted priorities of President Ilham Aliyev`s successful foreign and domestic policy ensuring comprehensive development of the country, as well as Azerbaijan-Poland relationship.
He recalled national leader Heydar Aliyev`s visit to Vatican and trip of John Paul II, who was Polish pope to date, to Azerbaijan.
The diplomat also mentioned his meeting with John Paul II in Vatican in 1991.
Other speakers at the event underlined the importance of such events in terms of development of relationship between Azerbaijan and Poland.
