Senior Lawmaker Condemns Amr Moussa's Remarks against Iran

TEHRAN,April 26 (FNA)- A senior Iranian legislator here on Monday slammed Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa for uttering "emotional, hasty and unfounded" statements against Iran.
Speaking to the French daily Le Figaro, Moussa had claimed that the vigorous winds of change sweeping the region will not be confined to the Arab world and will one day reach Iran as well.

Member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Zohreh Elahian blasted the remarks as "emotional, hasty and baseless", and said, "The fact that you describe the regional developments as vigorous winds indicates that you believe popular revolutions are not positive and this stance runs counter to your and the Americans' claims about advocating democracy."

Stressing the Iranian nation's strong support for the Islamic Republic, she reiterated that no popular government will be defeated by winds and now 30 years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the government has grown more popular each day.

Earlier, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi had underlined popularity of the Islamic ruling system in Iran, saying that the Iranian nation would extend full support to the Islamic establishment in case the country comes under military attacks by the enemies.

"People of Iran are ready to defend the Islamic ruling system in integrity and solidarity with the Armed Forces," Vahidi said last April, reminding the large congregations formed and the warm hospitality shown by the people when government officials pay visits to their villages and cities in the different parts of the country.
