Iran, Turkey to Accelerate Implementation of Insurance Agreements
TEHRAN,April 26(FNA)- Officials of Iran and Turkey's insurance bodies met here in Tehran on Monday in a bid to accelerate implementation of the agreements signed by the two countries on cooperation in insurance-related fields.
The meeting was held at the Insurance Research Center, affiliated to the Central Insurance of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Addressing the meeting, Parviz Khosroshahi, caretaker of the CIIRI's Planning and Development Department, underlined the special position of Iran's insurance industry in the region, and called for further interactions among regional nations' insurance bodies.
He added that Iran is trying to elevate its international place in rendering insurance services by using the invaluable experiences of the other countries.
Also during the meeting, Khosroshahi laid emphasis on joint cooperation in insurance fields, establishment of joint insurance companies and exploration of capacities for expanding insurance cooperation in the Middle-East.
Iran and Turkey have in recent years increased their cooperation in all the various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture.
The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul in a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in February underlined the need for the removal of obstacles to the further expansion of bilateral economic ties with Iran in a bid to boost trade cooperation between the two countries.
"The level of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries does not suit the age-old ties of the two nations and we should remove the obstacles to the development of mutual cooperation between Iran and Turkey," Gul said at the time.
