Commander Urges Comprehensive Roadmap for Iran's Civil Defense

TEHRAN,April 27(FNA)- Iran's Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi underlined the necessity and need for Iran to draw a comprehensive roadmap for civil defense.
In a message read to the Civil Defense Conference in Iran's Western city of Ilam on Wednesday, Firouzabadi warned about enemies' plot to undermine Iran's progress in civil defense techniques and knowledge that include different technical and scientific fields, and called on all Iranian elites, researchers and intellectuals to pick up an active role in drawing a comprehensive roadmap for Iran's civil defense.

He further pointed out that "preparing a comprehensive scientific roadmap for civil defense" would play a complementary role for the country's comprehensive roadmap of science and technology which was prepared and unveiled earlier this year.

The commander said that the ministry of science, research and technology should be tasked with utilizing the country's scientific and research capacities in supporting civil defense capabilities.

Firouzabadi also said showing vigilance and grasping a correct understanding on the hard and soft threats posed against the country is highly necessary.

He also urged that scientific mechanisms and ways should be presented for confronting threats, reducing the country's vulnerabilities and safeguarding national capitals.
