Turkey-Azerbaijan Cooperation Conference opened in Baku
Baku, April 28 (AzerTAc). A Turkey-Azerbaijan Cooperation Conference on the theme of Social and Economic Development amid Globalization has started today in Baku.
Metin Eker, the director of the Main Department of External Economic Relations of the State Planning Organization of Turkey, heads the Turkish delegation to the conference. Several governmental organization of Azerbaijan attended the conference.
The participants toured the exhibition featuring the achievements of Azerbaijan in the field of the socio-economic development.
Head of administration of Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Economic Development Samir Valiyev described the progress achieved by Azerbaijan following the strategy of economic development. Valiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan`s share in economy of South Caucasus region exceeded 71% during the past 10 years. He also focused the attention on projects implemented by Azerbaijan in partnership with Turkey. Valiyev also described the strategic importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines and construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
Metin Eker, in turn, emphasized that Azerbaijan and Turkey have close relationships and stressed the importance of further cooperation.
he conference featured presentations on middle-term and annual programs on macroeconomic targets and policies, management and monitoring of investment programs, main priorities of social and economic policy and other issues.
The conference will last till April 30.
