Health Min in Moscow elaborates on medical achievements in Iran

Iran’s Health Minister here Friday elaborated on medical achievements in Iran in medical, health care, and remedial fields for foreign Media reporters.


According to the IRNA correspondent in Russia, Dr. Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi said at the press conference, in the shadow of the innovative achievements in Iran, today nine of the biological medicines that used to be imported into Iran are now produced in the country.”
She added, “In addition to those items, presently 12 other biological medicines, too, are now in the process of being mass produced in near future and there are broad actions of the nature underway.”
The Iranian Health, Remedy, and Medical Training further reiterated, “Presently 96% of the required medicines are produced inside the country.”
She added, “Of course we have much broader programs underway for production of a larger number of the remaining 4% of the imported medical items to our country, which will bear fruit, God willing, in not very remote future.”
Ms. Dastjerdi also pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved noticeable advancements in the field of medical and medicine technology and facilities during the recent years, adding, “It is thanks to these achievements that our technicians have managed to manufacture over ten types of vaccines in Iran presently.”
The Health Minister also referred to the organ transplant operations, fully by the Iranian medical teams as another success as a result of the above mentioned achievements.
Referring to the bone marrow operations conducted in Iran as another success of the Iranian medical advancements, she said, “So far 3,000 such operations have been conducted in Iran successfully, which is rarely if ever, matched in the world.”
She also referred to the short period between the Iranian patients’ first reference to the medical centers and the required operation time, saying that this is quite a new thing not only in Iran, but throughout most regional countries.”
Referring to the expansion of the medical sciences education in Iran, she said, “Presently we have some one million students of various medical sciences and some 40,000 professors in the field, teaching 26 specialty and 20 ultra-specialty disciplines in Iran.”
