Comorian Envoy Blasts West's Media Campaign against Iran's N. Program

TEHRAN,APRIL 30 (FNA)- Comoros Ambassador to Tehran Ahmad Najd al-Marzouqi lashed out at the West for launching an unfair media campaign to demonize Iran's peaceful nuclear program, reminding that Iran has always been committed to the international rules and regulations.
"The western media are trying to ignore the realities of Iran's nuclear program, but they have failed to do so," al-Marzouqi told FNA in a visit to Iran's Southeastern province of Khuzestan.

"Iran has abided by all international rules and has not violated these rules and regulations," the diplomat reminded, questioning West's justification for launching a media and political campaign against Iran's nuclear activities.

He defended Iran's rights of access to the nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and added, "No country can or should prevent Iran from achieving this goal."

Marzouqi also stated that Iran is an Islamic country which obeys the rules of Islam, in which production of the weapons of mass destruction is forbidden.

Washington and its Western allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program, while they have never presented any corroborative evidence to substantiate their allegations. Iran denies the charges and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually run dry.
Despite the rules enshrined in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) entitling every member state, including Iran, to the right of uranium enrichment, Tehran is now under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions for turning down West's calls to give up its right of uranium enrichment.

Tehran has dismissed West's demands as politically tainted and illogical, stressing that sanctions and pressures merely consolidate Iranians' national resolve to continue the path.

Political observers believe that the International and unilateral sanctions against Iran have had no result but inflicting damage on the European companies.
