No excuse for US presence in region after Bin Laden’s death – FM
IRI foreign minister said here Monday if according to Americans’ claim Osama bin-Laden has actually got killed; there is no more excuse of US presence in region anymore.
According to the IRNA dispatched reporter to Doha, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali-Akbar Salehi made the comment at a press conference at the end of his day-long visit of Qatar in which he had three important meetings with the kingdom’s top three officials.
He made the comment in response to the IRNA reporter’s question on the US President Barrack Obama’s claim the al-Qaeda terror organization chief Osama Bin Laden had got killed in the course of a US commando operation in the north of the Pakistani capital city, Islamabad, and Iran’s stand on the matter.
Salehi added, “Our initial stand was, and still is that the Americans should not have dispatched military forces to the region on that pretext.”
He further reiterated, “Our stand was proved to be quite justifiable in the years that followed, because the problem posed by Bin Laden and his terror organization, was not solved through a military invasion, and even eventually, it was a competent commando group that killed him, not military troops.”
The Iranian top diplomat pointed out that we have been witnesses to getting killed of tens of thousands of innocent people by the Americans, arguing, “There is no place for the presence of the Americans in the region in the future, and even the US public opinion is not pleased with the presence of the Americans in the region.”
He reiterated, “If the Americans had deployed their military forces to the region resorting to that pretext, the problem is no solved and the Americans had better leave the region as soon as possible to end the massacre of more innocent people in the region.”
Salehi pointed out, “We have heard that Bin Laden has got killed in the course of a commando operation. The Americans had earlier in the past decade bombarded the region ruthlessly, killing lots of innocent ordinary people, whose number is roughly 110,000 in various US military operations.”
The Iranian foreign minister reiterated, “Now the question is, who brought Bin Laden to the scene? Is the news we read in the media that the CIA created bon Laden (during the former USSR occupation of Afghanistan) authentic?”
In response to another IRNA question regarding the ongoing human catastrophe in Bahrain and the IRI Foreign Ministry’s efforts in respective consultations with the Qatari officials, he pointed out that in his Monday meeting the matter was discussed in details, adding, “The human rights issue and violating it broadly in Bahrain is worth deep contemplation.”
Salehi expressed hope that relying on the collective efforts in the region we would soon be witnesses to the solving of the existing problem in Bahrain.
BAHRAIN PROBLEM IRRELEVANT TO SHI’A-SUNNI, ARAB-NON-ARAB, AND IRAN-BAHRAIN ISSUES
According to the IRNA dispatched reporter, Ali-Akbar Salehi pointing out that the existing problem in Bahrain is irrelevant to the Shi’a-Sunni, the Arab-non-Arab, or the Iran-Bahrain issues, but a fully Bahraini-Bahraini issue.
He made the comment in response to a question on the moves made regarding the uprisings in Bahrain and Yemen, adding, “It was agreed that both sides would seriously pursue consultations aimed at solving the crisis in Bahrain, and there are also many efforts underway aimed at solving the crisis in Yemen peacefully.”
He added, “of course in Yemen the popular uprising is no more than a couple of months, and the people have very legitimate demands, which we hope they would achieve.”
The IRI foreign minister pointed out that in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and some regional countries we are witnesses to popular uprisings, and the Bahrain issue, too, is in line with the same developments.
Salehi pointed out, “The entire regional countries should assist to solve this problem that is an internal problem, and refrain from inappropriate interferences, including and particularly dispatching military forces.”
He reiterated, “My visit of Qatar is quite a natural diplomatic visit, keeping in mind Tehran-Doha’s historic and deep-rooted relations.”
The Iranian top diplomat added, “In my meetings today with the Emir of Qatar, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister and my Qatari counterpart we discussed bilateral ties and regional developments comprehensively.”

SYRIA AT PEAK OF RESISTANCE PYRAMID/ SOME PEOPLE INTRIGUING UNREST THERE RELYING ON FOREING SUPPORT
Referring to the situation in Syria, he reiterated, “There are some popular demands in Syria that the Syrian Government and Mr. Bashar al-Assad have announced they are ready to make them come true, and they will make steps respectively.”
Salehi pointed out that there are also other moves made in Syria, reiterating, “According to the information we have received from Syria and the announcement of the Syrian Government, a group relying on foreign support is after fomenting unrest in Syria.”
He pointed out, “So long as there would be popular and grass-root movements, like the other countries, we would try to make them come true,” reiterating, “We must make distinction between the popular movements and the moves of small minorities. We have the question how come when military forces are dispatched to Bahrain they are arrayed against the people, but when there is talk about dispatching forces to Syria, it would be against the government?”
