LEGISALTORS ASK BPK TO AUDIT ALL OIL, GAS, MINING WORK CONTRACTS
Jakarta, Sept 3 (ANTARA) - A number of House of Representatives (DPR) members have asked the State Audit Board (BPK) to audit all oil and gas as well as mining work contracts in the country in order to determine the amount of losses the state has suffered by the deals.
The legislators made the request at a meeting between the House Fuel Oil Price Hike Inquiry Committee and the BPK here on Wednesday which was also attended by BPK chairman Anwar Nasution.
According to the lawmakers, the BPK should examine at least 54 work contracts.
BPK had since 2005 audited only about six work contracts. Therefore, it was expected that BPK would increase its working capability and audit all of the work contracts in order to obtain a picture of the amount of losses suffered by the state.
In response to the lawmakers' request, Anwar said his agency would make an optimal effort to investigate all of the contracts. "We will carry out audits on all of the contracts," he added.
The audits would be carried out comprehensively on all activities covered by the contracts and on all other government polices, including the fuel oil subsidies provided to the people and the cost recovery.
