Brussels hosts first meeting of EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly
Kiev, May 3 (AzerTAc). Brussels hosts the first meeting of the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly today. The act on creation EURONEST has been signed by EP President Jerzy Buzek, first Vice Chairman of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ziyafat Asgarov, speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan, vice speaker of Georgian Parliament Mikhail Machavarani, President of the Parliament and Acting President of Moldova Marian Lupu and Chairman of European Integration Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Borys Tarasyuk.
“EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly established by this act is the parliamentary Institute for Eastern partnership between the European Union and the Eastern partnership. It defines the Assembly to support the development of the Eastern partnership structure and powers of the Assembly. Article 8 of the Act stipulates that meetings of the Assembly shall be inspected at least once a year alternately in the European Parliament and parliaments of the premises of the Eastern partnership.
“Eastern partnership-EU initiative aimed at increased cooperation with six countries – EU eastern neighbors – Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Georgia and Armenia. This initiative was launched in May 2009.
