Azeri parliamentarian becomes Deputy Chairman of EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly
Baku, May 4 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani parliamentarian Elkhan Suleymanov has been elected Deputy Chairman and member of the Bureau of EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly`s constituent meeting held in Brussels on Tuesday.
Also Suleymanov was appointed Head of Azerbaijan Parliamentary group in Euronest PA. Azerbaijan will be presented by 10 parliamentarians at EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly.
Also Azeri deputy Fuad Muradov was elected Chairman of Energy Security Committee. A delegation of the Azerbaijani Parliament led by the First Vice-Speaker of Milli Majlis, Chairman of the Parliament`s Security and Defense Committee Ziyafat Asgarov, deputies Elkhan Suleymanov, Ali Huseynli, Asim Mollazade, Gulchohra Mammadova, Azer Karimli and Fuad Muradov attended the constituent meeting of EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly.
Opening the meeting, President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek provided information on main goal and duties of EURONEST PA, future cooperation of this organization with the European Union within the framework of Eastern Partnership programme.
The EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly was devised to provide a parliamentary dimension to the EU`s eastern partnership, as part of the EU`s neighbourhood policy. It consists of 60 MEPs and 10 MPs from each of the five eastern partner countries.
