Iranian Envoy Lambasts US Military Operation in Pakistan

TEHRAN, May 8 (FNA)- A senior Iranian diplomat lashed out at the US for its military operations on Pakistan's soil, saying that the move signifies Washington's animosity towards the Muslim nation.

Speaking at a meeting with the opposition leader in the Pakistani parliament Choudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Tehran's Ambassador to Islamabad Mashallah Shakeri said that the US raid was a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty.

"The US has proved its enmity by waging a nightly attack on a friendly country," the Iranian diplomat added.

Shakeri lauded the Pakistani parliamentarian for his clear-cut stance on the mysterious killing of al-Qaeda ringleader Osama bin Laden in a US raid in Abbottabad, near Islamabad.

The Iranian ambassador urged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader not to compromise on the gruesome incident.

On Wednesday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi questioned the authenticity and reliability of the recent announcement made by the US president about the death of the Al-Qaeda Leader, Osama bin Laden.

"Bin Laden's death report is suspicious in essence since they claim that they have discharged his body in the sea," Vahidi told reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting here in Tehran.

"We should ask why they have not allowed an impartial party to observe this process," he said.

"All these issues display that Americans are troubled in dealing with their strategic issues," he noted.
