Iran's FM to Continue Tour of Region

TEHRAN, May 10 (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is due to continue his tour of the regional countries as a sign of intensified consultations between Iran and the regional states amid the recent political and social developments in the region.
"There are more trips to come, among them foreign minister's upcoming visit to Iraq," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said during his weekly press conference here in Tehran on Tuesday.

Meantime, Mehman-Parast didn't elaborate on the exact date of Salehi's visit to Baghdad.

He further stated that Salehi's recent visits to the regional countries, including Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, were aimed at exchanging views and consultations on bilateral relations and regional developments.

"We hope that the consultations will lead to correct decisions in dealing with people's legitimate demands and that we can witness establishment of stability and security in the region," Mehman-Parast underscored.

During the last few days, Salehi visited Qatar, Oman and the UAE and met with their senior officials.

Last Monday, Salehi, heading a high-ranking Iranian delegation, arrived in Doha for an official daylong visit to the Muslim Persian Gulf state.

Salehi held separate meetings with Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in his trip to Doha.

Salehi also visited the Omani capital of Muscat on Wednesday to hold talks with senior Omani officials, including Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Saidon, on regional developments and bilateral ties.

Salehi paid a daylong visit to Abu Dhabi on Sunday morning and discussed bilateral ties and regional issues in meetings with senior United Arab Emirates (UAE) official, including Emirati Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
