PRESIDENT ASKS FOR NEW POLICIES TO FACILITATE INVESTMENT IN BALI
Jakarta, Sept 5 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the Bali provincial administration to formulate new policies to facilitate investment in the province, Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika said here on Friday.
Made Mangku Pastika made the statement after he and Vice Governor Aan Puspayoga met President Yudhoyono at the latter's office to report their installation as Bali governor and vice governor.
"One of the things we do to attract investors is to provide prospective investors with true and correct information. We do not just invite them without more," the governor said.
He said businessmen who would like to invest in Bali would be given information about the existing business potentials and opportunities in the resort island.
"Another matter which we are going to improve is the issuance of investment permits in relation with cost, time and legal aspects for the investors who would like to invest not only in tourism but also in the agronomy and infrastructure sectors," Mangku Pastika said.
He said at the meeting with President Yudhoyono, the head of state also asked him to focus his attention on reduction of the poverty rate, the unemployment rate, and on improvement of education, health, infrastructure, governance, and public services.
Mangku Pastika also reported to the president about the Asean Beach Games which are to take place in Bali from October 18 to 20 this year with 3,000 athletes from 45 countries participating.
Prior to the meeting with Mangku Pastika, President Yudhoyono also received West Kalimantan Governor Cornelis and asked the latter to pay attention to the welfare of people living in areas bordering Malaysia.
"President Yudhoyono said the welfare of people living in parts of West Kalimantan bordering Malaysia should be given special attention," the West Kalimantan governor said.
Cornelis, who was accompanied by Vice Governor Christiandy Sanjaya at the meeting with the president, said the welfare of people living in border areas could be improved through economic development efforts.
