Azerbaijani Interior Minister meets OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media
Baku, May 13 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Interior Minister Ramil Usubov has met OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic.
Usubov said the Ministry closely cooperated with OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, OSCE Baku Office and the Organization`s missions in neighbor countries towards ensuring security in Azerbaijan and in the region, strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms in the country, and fighting against transnational organized crime.
Usubov said the OSCE Baku Office and the Interior Ministry work together in four directions.
“We cooperate in combating human trafficking, management of public assembly, fighting against corruption, and on "Police supported by society "project.”
Mijatovic praised what had been done in Azerbaijan. Touching upon police-media relations, Mijatovic stressed the importance of journalists` activity in normal and dangerous conditions, and praised the work of police bodies in this respect.
