Azeri FM meets OSCE PA President

Baku (AzerTAc) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Petros Efthymiou.
Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan was interested in continuing cooperation with such an important international organization as OSCE.
They discussed the OSCE-mediated peaceful negotiations on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Mammadyarov said the fact Armenia still holds the Azerbaijani lands under occupation is what complicates the settlement of the conflict.
“The first step to be made towards peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the Azerbaijani territories.”
The Azeri FM also expressed hope the move would positively affect the political situation in the region.
Mammadyarov said the Armenian leadership`s position on changing the borders by force was unacceptable and contrary to norms and principles of the international law.
Efthymiou praised the OSCE-Azerbaijan cooperation.
He said he did not consider the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict frozen.
Efthymiou noted he would urge all OSCE PA member countries to contribute to ensuring the settlement of the conflict.
