Iran: Bin Laden's Trial Could Reveal Realities of US War on Terrorism

TEHRAN, May 15 (FNA)- Secretary-General of Iran's High Council of Human Rights Mohammad Javad Larijani underscored on Sunday that Iran wished that the al-Qaeda leader, Osama bind Laden, had been tried before his alleged death because his trial could reveal the hidden agenda of the United States' so-called war on terrorism.
"We wanted Osama Bin Laden with his long record of terrorist activities to go on trial so that some realities would be unveiled this way," Larijani told reporters in South Africa.

"We believe that Americans had better have put Osama Bin Laden on trial at first and issued a ruling for him" in a legal move, he added.

Larijani stressed that killing Bin Laden before his trial not only spread terrorism in the world but also added to the existing complications and ambiguities.

Early this month, Obama announced that Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed in a US operation in Pakistan.

Obama said he had directed helicopter-borne US armed forces to launch an attack against a heavily fortified compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan acting on a lead that first emerged last August.

US officials claim that they have dropped bin Laden's body in the Arabian Sea after conducting the necessary postmortem examinations and DNA tests to make sure of his identity.
