Commander: Israel Seeking to Distort Islamic Identity of Regional uprisings

TEHRAN, May 16 (FNA)- Commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer) forces Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi cautioned that Zionists are seeking hard to deprive the popular uprisings in the regional countries of their Islamic identity.
"Zionists are striving to inspire the idea that uprisings of the regional nations are the result of a US project happening under the management of the world arrogance," Gen. Naqdi said on Sunday.

"The uprising of the regional nations today is a deeply Islamic movement against the interests of the world arrogance," he reiterated, and mentioned that people's rally in Egypt on Friday in support of the Palestinians indicates the fact that the ongoing move by the regional Muslim nations is a revolution against the world arrogant powers and aimed at the destruction of the Zionist regime of Israel.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had also earlier underlined that the recent moves made by the Muslim nations in the Middle-East and North Africa have resulted from the Iranian nation's Islamic Revolution.

The Leader said that the graced events underway in several states of the Middle East are the outcome of the resistance shown by the Iranian nation against the bullying powers.

"The blessed movement which has started in the region today is part of the fruits of the Iranian nation's resistance," the Supreme Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted the popular movements and revolutions against the West-backed dictators in the region, and said, "More developments are still to come in future."

Referring to the impacts of the Islamic Revolution on the regional and international equations, the Leader said almost all the world analysts acknowledge that uprisings in the region are the outcome of Iran's Islamic Revolution.

He further stated that reliance upon God's assistance and divine belief, resistance to the bullying powers and long-term views are the key to success.

Political observers believe that people's uprisings in Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Jordan, Yemen and Libya are the result of growing "Islamic awakening" in the Middle-Eastern countries.

Observers also believe that the recent uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain and Jordan are the result of the United States' double-standards in the Middle-East and its biased policies against the different nations.

After the United States and certain other western countries adopted a double-standard approach towards the popular protests against the dictatorial regimes in the region, people in the Middle-East say that the western approach to the ongoing revolutions in these countries has unveiled the true nature of the West's stance on democracy.
